The sales pipeline is used to manage opportunities as well as logging and tracking the progress on all client proposals. These include large development proposals as well as small proposals such as license renewals and hardware purchases. Once an opportunity has been identified, it will be logged in the pipeline and resources will be assigned. These logged opportunities are visible to all employees and gives a good overview of all proposal progress, as well as who is currently responsible for the proposal. For financial reasons, the gross margin is also added to all proposals.
In order to make this pipeline more user-friendly, a redesign has been suggested. Logging opportunities has to be made simpler, and there is also the need to add more opportunity status options in order to make it easier to track how far the proposal is from being handed to the client.
