I am looking for a ruby developer to write plugins for NetFlix's [1] Scumblr [2] Scumblr is Netflix's open source intelligence gathering web application. It provides basic search functionality for a number of sites using both API's and scraping techniques to gather information based on key search terms. My initial requirement is to implement a Facebook Group Post Search which will allow a user to: - Provide the Query term which details the text they are searching for in the groups posts - Provide the Facebook numeric ID [3] of the group they wish to search - Define the Maximum results to return for the query - Provide optional Oauth credentials to use for the search if the group is closed/secret - If the group is public, provide appropriate API keys to search the groups comments The plugin should use standard Ruby libraries where applicable, such as Koala [4] to ensure the minimum amount of code is been written Details on the criteria for creating a new search provider in Scumblr are provided here: https://github.com/Netflix/Scumblr/wiki#search-provider-methods An example of the existing Scumblr Facebook search provider can be found here: https://github.com/Netflix/Scumblr/blob/master/lib/search_providers/facebook.rb The problem with this is that: - It relies on a Facebook App to access the Graph API - Version 2.0 of the Graph API does not allow searching of posts - A new App created recently cannot access Version 1.0 of the API (which still allows post searching) This is why I require a new Facebook plugin which will perform the tasks outlined above For the successful candidate there will be a continual pipeline of work.
