I have a website (mrbiltong.co.uk) in classic asp where customers can order South African goods.
Currently if you add an item to your shopping cart it takes you to the shopping cart page, however most customers order more than one item so it would make more sense if the item was added to their cart and they stayed on the page they were already on to save them hitting the back key etc.
I have tried to implement something like this before but on certain browsers the shopping cart running total wouldn't update without a refresh and it's not immediately obvious that something has been added to the cart or where it is.
I would like something similar to what happens on play.com (play.com/stores/LinkEntertainment/listing/938803057) when you add an item to your cart.
Note that this needs to work on all desktops/phones/tablets including all versions of IE down to IE6. If it's possible for a purely CSS solution without any jquery I would prefer that.
