We have an existing mechanical design for a two-axis pivot.
The current design is ~very~ well modeled in Solidworks.
The design is based around Tslots ( futura.com ) extrusions and fasteners.
Now that the design is stable, we wish to reduce costs by converting to a welded design.
The project is to take the existing SW design, and while keeping the major 'important' dimensions the same, convert the fabricated structures to weldment subassemblies + the minimal number of bolts needed to join the weldments into the finished assembly. You'll specify any necessary nut inserts, etc, for a complete, assemble-able structure.
Job also requires basic strength analysis to ensure the finished result will equal or exceed the strength of the original fabricated design.
AND, you'll do all of this with an eye for ease of manufacture and low final product cost.
You will also specify raw materials, eg what tubing is required (and make good choices for availability, performance, and cost).
