Project outline: control a stand-alone array of addressable switches. This is for a portable, battery operated system that will be used outdoors. The end goal is to send commands to the stand alone system using an android based tablet and a wireless (e.g. xbee) link.
The switches use a 1-wire protocol. Here is an example device: [obscured] -ic.com/datasheet/index.mvp/id/2906 . There would be roughly 150 switches in the array and a maximum of 10 commands per second (that is, the switches would change state 10 times per second).
Continuous control is not needed - the user will send an address / timing pattern and a 'go' command. The stand –alone system runs this program until a new command is sent. For typical operation it is expected that a go/stop command or a new address / timing pattern would be sent every minute or so.
