I have an PC based application which opens a website. Currently, anI've built a a skinned browser with Adobe Director and works reasonably well. Once loaded, reads a local text file for the URL to load. The biggest drawback is that it relies on IE compatibility-mode as the rendering engine.
This is no longer satisfactory since IE compatibility-mode is essentially IE7 and is dated.
I need to have, if possible, a nearly identical setup which relies on a newer technology (would be fine if it could simply use the IE8,9,10 or chrome or firefox browser with just a different skin on it.
The only browser functionality required would be the back, refresh and close button.
It must be able to read from a local file in the same directory called "prefs.txt" to know which URL to load. For example, " [obscured] "
So to recap, the process is this.
1. My application opens the "browser.exe" application.
2. browser.exe launches fullscreen and loads a default url ...
