Last year I filed a 2010 1040 Tax Return and applied for an ITIN using Form W7. Both tax return and W7, along with a letter, were sent to the IRS, certified mail. To this date, I have yet to receive my ITIN and I need to file tax returns again (or at lest file the extension). I also filed an Illinois tax return, but wrote in the box for the Social Security Number "Applied For". I am less worried about Illinois tax return at this moment.
I am a resident of China with business in the United States, and spend 3-4 months in the USA on a B1 visa, therefore making me ineligible for a Social Security Number. I have no intention to emmigrate to the USA or obtain any type of residency. However, we might want to buy a summer house in the future or expand our business (parent company is in China).
