TRANSLATION COMPANIES PLEASE DO NOT REPLY. UPDATE: Please do not submit a proposal if it is over $250, there have been over a dozen submissions under $250. Experience or knowledge with the subject matter is preferred. I am looking for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in helping me translate my best-selling inspirational memoir, ideally someone who is interested in memoirs, culture, the arts, photography, family. A lot of experience is not necessary, because I am not offering a lot of monetary compensation. This is the ideal job for someone just starting out as a translator or bi-lingual writer. If you are interested please send me a note and your CV. WHAT I OFFER & TERMS OF THE JOB: - $250 for translation of the 35,000 word book - Job to be completed within 5 weeks (first week preface and Ch. 1-5; 2nd week Ch 6-10; 3rd week Ch. 11-15; 4th week Ch. 16-20; 5th week Ch. 21-25 and associated collateral like basic Amazon description, translator bio, author bio, etc.) - Full international credit as the translator for both the e-book and paperback versions - 5% of net sales (after marketing and sales costs) for the life of the published translation - When we go to print, I will send you a printed copy - Payment of net profit on a quarterly basis (every three months) via PayPal, as along as the minimum net profit of $25 is made BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK: In his best-selling book, Lorenzo describes how the deceptively simple rules of photography can also be applied to the art of living. Inspirational and poetic, this book will not only spark readers' creative energies, but also reawaken your passion for life. In 2005, as a husband, father, and corporate employee - Lorenzo's life revolved around home, work, and his daily commute from the suburbs to the city. Then, one day, he found himself staying at the Little Church in midtown Manhattan in the wake of a marital separation. Living in virtual isolation for three months, he had a rare chance to re-examine his life. Quite unexpectedly, he found himself wandering around the city to take photographs, a passion he had let slide in the years of pursuing a career and starting a family. During his nightly sojourns through the streets of New York City, he was reminded of some important life lessons-lessons too easily forgotten in the blur of everyday existence. * 25 Lessons I've Learned about (Photography)...Life! is an inspirational memoir that has been the #1 best-selling photo essay and artist biography on Amazon in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The book was translated into Italian. For more information about the book please go to 25Lessons dot com I firmly believe that you will find this to be a rewarding and fun project. What it comes down to is really finding the right words to befit my writing style in English. I have the following goals for the translations: 5. Write a translation that creates poetry out of prose. 6. Write a translation that has universal appeal to native speakers of the language everywhere. Seeking a creative balance between words and phrases that appeal to readers regardless of where they are from. 7. Choose the right idioms and phrases that resonate native speakers, while remaining true to the original story and my experience as a New Yorker living in the United States. 8. Use the informal tense/conjugation, throughout. After much debate and discussion with others, I've decided to make this memoir as "personal" as possible, so that it is if I am telling the story directly to the reader. Attached are English and Google translation. Although the book is selling well, it does not make much money because I sell it so anyone can afford it. If I could I would give it away for free on Amazon, but they do not allow this. Thus, my goal is not to make a profit; but rather for others to profit from my book and the lessons contained therein. Thank you very much, I look forward to your reply. Lorenzo
