I am a rf hobbiesman and I love to build rf amplifiers for example for 10 Meters Armature Ham Radio.
I just recently got into building actual Power Supplies using Step Down Transformers.
For example when I build a 50 Amp Power Supply I use:
1.) 50amp 12-16v Float Step Down Transformer
2.) 2X50AMP 1000v Bridging Rectifiers(To Convert AC to DC)
3.) Something around 47,000uf - 57,000uf Filter Cap(Electrolytic Capacitor)
Everything goes just fine and I can build 100amp, 150amp, 200amp, etc... etc..
BUT, I am missing one major element. These Power Supplies are UNREGULATED! That is fine when you are running it on a RF Amplifier but not when your running other Voltage Sensitive Equipment.
THE REASON I'M POSTING FOR THIS JOB:
I am needing to learn how to add a Variable Voltage Regulator to my Power Supplies.
I know quite a few companies that make thee and sale them that are able to make there Power Supplies Voltage Regulated.
I will be happy with just 12v-16v right now.
