I have put together an MSI installer for windows mobile 6.x. The main project is in C++ and the installer class is in C#. There is a CAB installer that contains the output of the main project, and an install verifier written in C# included as a custom action, all of which is wrapped into the MSI file. The installer works but it is not as seamless as I would like it to be.
When you install, you need to reboot the device in order to get the application downloaded and installed. To uninstall, you have to do it in two separate steps: one for the desktop using the MSI or the Control Panel and another for the device itself using the ActiveSync Add/Remove Programs tool. There does not seem to be any linkage between the desktop and mobile installs either. I have tried launching the CE App Manager from within the installer class, but the connection seems to go inactive during the install/uninstall process and a message box pops up to say that you can only launch it when there is an acti...
