After receiving a B.A. degree in English Composition from Barnard College in 1969, I began work as a medical editor and later was promoted to Manager of the Editorial Department at the W.B. Saunders Company in Philadelphia. I have since continued to work in this field and most recently was employed full time as a manuscript editor at the New England Journal of Medicine in Boston. I have edited hundreds of medical and scientific textbooks and journal articles and related materials (e.g., slide programs, white papers, doctoral theses, conference transcripts, and biographies of accomplished surgeons and physicians).

I have had four years of experience with writing, having published 34 articles since 2010. Places where I have published include the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Philadelphia, American Fencing Magazine, and Title Magazine. Graduating from Bryn Mawr College in 2014, I studied creative writing and English with an emphasis on film studies. Previous writing jobs have included writing audio tours for the ICA and building websites and promotional flyers for Blissful Yoganista. Current writing work includes contributing to the Phonak Open Ears Blog.
I have also performed original music at places like Haverford College and The Headhouse in Philadelphia. All original music has self-arranged and produced on Finale Songwriting software since 2007. Performances vary from being solo acts to work with fellow musicians. In 2014, I taught students at the East Los Angeles Performing Arts Academy about Finale songwriting software and music arrangements.

My philosophy of good writing is really quite simple: it must communicate clearly and simply the exact intent of the writer to his or her audience.
Good writing is not impersonal, overly technical or inaccessible. If a piece of writing is overly dense and hard to understand, the writer has failed. It is not the job of the reader to unravel the intent of the writer. Anything written for distribution or publication, whether it be a memo, a college application, web copy, a user's manual, or even a recipe, must be clear, accurate, and respectful of the reader.
The purpose of our writing is to communicate. My goal as a writer and editor is to deliver documents that are well-written, error-free, and PERFECTLY POLISHED. I take great pride in my work, because I truly believe that you only get one chance to make a good impression!
