Job Tagging, Job Summary Panel, and a New Profile Image Uploader

It's a great time to be a client or contractor on Elance—there are more jobs posted and more talent available than ever before. When managing multiple jobs and relationships, it can be a challenge to stay organized, so we’re adding some exciting new tools to help you navigate through your growing list of jobs.

Job Tagging
First, we've introduced a new job tagging feature that allows you to filter and manage all of your projects by whatever keywords you choose.

For example—as a contractor, if you have a large number of open jobs, perhaps you want to filter them by urgency so that you can plan your workday accordingly. If you manage a team on Elance, you may only want to see the copyediting jobs your team members are working on, not copywriting. As a client, maybe you want to filter your jobs by each category of work or mark the jobs that require weekly video chat or screen sharing.

When you log into your account and view your My Jobs page, the tagging feature will help you quickly find and manage your jobs. Your tags can be anything you feel will help you identify that job, from keywords and phrases to complete sentences, up to 50 characters per tag. Create tags and assign one or more of them to a job (or multiple jobs) and then filter for jobs that have specific tags. And your tags are just that—your tags. Only you can see them. The others in your Workroom, and even fellow team members will only see their own tags, allowing you to personalize your jobs view to your specifications.

To create a new tag, simply hover over a job and click on “Add or edit tags” and enter your text. When you’re ready to filter your jobs by their tags, click on the Tags button in your My Jobs toolbar, and select the tag you would like to filter your jobs by.

Job Summary Panel
When you click on a job, a new job panel will slide into view, instantly displaying the important job details, from Job Name and Status to Start and End Date, and even includes the tags you’ve created. Different information will be displayed based on your job status and job type (fixed price versus hourly) and you can select actions right from the job panel itself.

Profile Image Uploader: Action Required
In the next several weeks, we will be improving the display of your profile in search results.  With this change, we are improving the profile image upload process and including a new crop feature to create a better-looking, standardized search icon. To best represent your services, please update your profile image using this new process.

For detailed instructions on how to use the new profile image uploader and our profile image and thumbnail policy, visit the How Do I Create and Maintain my Profile? help topic here.

These are some of the new tools and features we're developing to help you better manage your jobs and make your Elance experience better than ever. For more information on our new features, please make sure you stay tuned to the Elance Blog for future announcements.

Very Nice

Thank for Your job, eLance team!

It would be helpful if the profile image could accept transparent .png so the background fits with the Elance color schemes, rather than have an unsightly white box.
