Celebrating the $500 Million Milestone TogetherElance_Keith | Feb 26, 2012
Today, contractors and clients together have surpassed the $400 million mark on Elance, representing new altitudes of earnings by skilled professionals and results delivered to entrepreneurs and businesses worldwide.
If it feels like we hit the $300 million mark not too long ago, then you’re absolutely right. Thanks to you, we’ve hit this century milestone faster than ever, beating our previous record (set during our $300 million marker) by nearly five whole months.
Of course, none of this would matter if we didn’t feel like we were onto something bigger than just numbers. During the past 302 days, people from all walks of life and every corner of the globe (over 150 different countries) have connected with each other to work online and get the job done.
Companies and products are being built every day now after being deemed too ambitious or too resource-heavy just a few years ago. Individuals have been leaving cubicles behind, taking more control over their own schedules, spending more time with their families, and have been making the world greener by cutting down on commute costs—all the while enjoying the freedom and satisfaction that comes with reinventing their career.
The road to $400 million was as memorable as ever. We witnessed great (and less than great) moments in work, and along the way saw your Cloud Commutes and Views From Your Office. You even showed us what online work has meant to your businesses and lives. We’ve featured on our blog countless testimonials from entrepreneurs, small business owners, contractors, and consultants who have embraced online work and seen dramatic changes in how they work and live.
Rather than to start looking towards the next big number, we’d rather take this moment to have you share with us how online work has made an impact in your life during this time. So tell us below in the comments section or on our Facebook page: How has working online had an impact—on your career, your company, or the way you live now?
Again, thank you all for continuing to be a part of this incredible journey so far. The next stop may be half a billion, but the real headlines will continue to be each and every one of yours.
