The World’s Largest Blackout In Indiafrosati | Jul 31, 2012
UPDATE: Reports indicate that power has been restored to a majority of the affected areas. In most cases there should now be minimal disruption in communication between Elance contractors and clients, and work activity should continue as normal. Thanks to everyone for their patience during this difficult situation for all.
As you possibly know, India has recently suffered a crippling blackout. Over half of the country is without power, affecting an estimated 700 million people in 22 of India’s 28 states. Our thoughts are with everyone in India as the nation struggles during this difficult time.
Naturally there are several members of the Elance community who are now unable to communicate with the rest of the world. With no power, no internet access and limited cellular service, these contractors and clients are also unable to work.
Note to all Elance contractors in India: We have notified your clients about the disruption in communications and the work stoppage due to the power outage. However, as soon as you are able, please contact clients directly to keep them updated on your current situation. If there is anything we can do to help accelerate your recovery, please let us know.
Note to all Elance clients with contractors in India: Due to the widespread blackout, expect disruption in communications with your contractors. On behalf of those who are affected we request your patience during this difficult time. We have sent communications to those who have been potentially affected, asking them to keep you updated, but we simply can’t guarantee they have gotten our messages. If you are experiencing significant delays in your job, please contact us and we’ll help in any way possible.
Thanks to everyone for your understanding.
