I have a collection of pdfs that list all the doctoral degrees (PhDs) awarded in economics for every year from 1908 to 2011 (except 1946). I would like the information to be transferred from these pdfs to a more usable spreadsheet. An example of the pdfs is attached. I would like to capture the following information for all degrees actually conferred (but not "theses in preparation"): 1. Year in the pdf title (so, in the case of the sample, 1956) 2. Name of PhD recipient (cut and paste from pdf) 3. Dissertation title (cut and paste from pdf) 4. University awarding the degree (cut and paste, but make sure the same name is used for the same university throughout) 5.
