I am working to install Windows Server 2012 R2. Need to get past the prompt for "domain". Our primary hosted domain is not based on a Windows compatible DNS server (it's hosted Linux, off site), so I can't seem to get a sub-domain setup. I don't really want to run IIS, though I suppose I could. I just want it to serve as a basic file server. The goal is to setup and run a Virtual Machine which is accessible by remote computers to run Quickbooks via terminal services. I have to get past the entry for Domain first. Not familiar, yet, with a "Forest", or "Tree Domain", etc. I have Windows Server 2012 R2 Data Center loaded. Ultimately, I want to get Hyper-V working with a two processor server, and a VPN hookup with Certs to access. I expect I'll need to deploy AD, DNS, and DHCP, but beyond that, just looking for some basic help to get past this "Domain" prompt.
