Attachment: The attachment shows a diagram of the forces involved in a doubly reinforced concrete beam, which this project is to be based on. Below this diagram is the function for the singly reinforced concrete beam. On the second page there is a series of calculations which show how the Area of Steel, As, is calculated. I essentially need a very similar thing except for a doubly reinforced beam as shown in the diagram. Overview: I am doing a project which aims to assess the effect of corrosion of steel reinforcement on the strength and reliability on Reinforced Concrete Beams. In order to be able to calculate the area of steel, As, required in the beam I require a MATLAB Function to be written. Once the area of steel has been calculate I can reduce this area by 5%, 10%, 20% in order to simulate corrosion and assess the reliability of the beam.
