I'm a newly appointed Project Accountant for a Piling company that uses Contract Explorer V7. I've only ever used SAP and I don't have time to learn how to set up a good coding system for all our projects, biggest projects are roughly $50M. We are currently not using all the modules on the system, they basically capture cost and using excel to do the rest, which is wasting the capabilities of the system. My task is to set-up projects correctly going forward, making use of the change-order module etc and I need to know the best way to code the projects eg: cost codes for labour, materials etc and for change orders because we want to be able to determine whether the change order was profitable etc... I basically need a contract explorer expert who would be able to design a good coding system for me and maybe some process flow charts on how to correctly account for these projects.
