Long story short-- the accounting system I was using for 2014 completely lost all of my data. I decided to purchase Quickbooks Pro 2015 for windows. Unfortunately I cannot import my transactions (to my knowledge) from my bank accounts, my previous software, etc. Leaving me to enter in all of this data manually. I have a portfolio of forward contracts for commodities, in which I commit to purchase fixed quantities at fixed prices over a defined term of 1 to 10 years. The contracts are not options, and I physically settle the contracts, so I account for them under normal purchase and sale accounting. Our lender has asked us to prepare a fair value calculation for the contracts. Because of the illiquidity of the markets, the banks said they expect this to be a "Level 3" fair value calculation, which gives me flexibility to use proprietary models and assumptions. I am looking for assistance building a model where I can input the contract terms and market data for the forward price curve, and come up with a fair value.
