Small retail company currently using QB online I have a small retail business that purchases used construction machinery overseas and then imports for resale in the US. In the process of preparing for the customer we have to first ship unit to our location, pay port fees, truck overland, purchase various parts (example: new seat, seals, headlight, battery) and then the item is placed for sale. It is important to know the total of the initial purchase price and the following costs that create and assembly in order to price the machine correctly. It is the accounting for this inventory item that is giving us problems with QBO. The product is first put into products and services inventory, using tracking and starting at 0 quanity with a date of Jan 1 for the year we are in.
