Hello, There is an issue with a fibre optic connection between a central switch and another external switch, where it appears as the switch port (on the central switch I think) is flapping continuously or auto-shutting itself blocking traffic. This is not owned equipment but belongs to a residency where there is no one in charge for networking. There is access to both switches but only from inside the LAN. The central switch model is a: Welcome to the Alcatel OmniSwitch 7000 (7700, I think) Software Version 220.127.116.112.R02 Service Release, December 21, 2006. The external switch is a 6000 series Alcatel switch I recall, however I do not have it right here. can provide the exact model later. Both ends connect to fibre optic ports. The same issue was resolved at some point 6 months ago by disabling STP for the link, however the config was not saved to flash and a power cut made the external switch lose its working running configuration.
