SQL-Ledger is an open source accounting program which I am wanting to try. It is fully developed and available for free online. Only I don't know how to access it myself. Hey I need help with using stata in an accounting and finance project: What I want to do: I want to examine the relationship of accounting quality and the cost of capital for the german stock market. From 1980/1990 (whatever makes more sense concerning the data quality) to 2010/2014. As a proxy for the accounting quality I want to use the Leuz measurements (there are 4 of them). It would be enough to just use #1 for the decision wether accounting quality is high or low. Then the dataset should be separated in high quality and low quality (portfolio) by using the Leuz measurement. As a variation there should also be a separation that looks like this: up to the 30% lowest, then 30-70% and above 70% (in dependence on Fama/French (1993)).
