Our small business has decided to bring some independent contractors in as employees. We'd like them to be treated in much the same way as regular independent contractors. We pay based on billable hours only. We use time of in lieu of overtime (is this appropriate?) What options do we have? We do not pay vacation/holidays. We expect them to be able to continue to work as they wish, but do not want to be required to keep them as employees if they stop providing any work for us. Obviously we are not lawyers, and we expect you to know best. We would expect a non-compete, non-disclosure, and a don't steal our other employees section. While the majority of those working for us are based in Arizona, we'd like this contract to work with all states. We would expect this lawyer to be currently licensed and in good standing.
