I am a real estate appraiser and currently use a tool that I designed (was programmed by an excel expert). The current excel-based tool requires that I cut-and-paste the data I want to analyze, then it fills in calculations on a spreadsheet that I then print to a pdf. If I want to run a different report (for example, for a different subdivision, different group of properties, different market area, different date, etc.), then I need to delete the data I pasted in, then go cut-and-paste the new set from the file I exported from the local MLS (the realtor sales system). Also, it is pretty "static" in that it is only programmed to work with my MLS exports, with the exact order of columns, sales are delineated a certain way, listings are delineated a certain way, and so on, so that I can't share the tool with others, since it is a very "manual" task to run any report.
