This is a proof-of-concept project to determine whether or not a Chrome Portable Native Client (PNaCl) C/C++ program can be written that would perform the following use case: 1) User selects a local audio or video file via the browser (HTML 5 File API may be used, if required.) 2) The PNaCl application encodes the selected file into multiple compressed formats and bitrates. 3) The encoded files are uploaded to an Amazon S3 bucket; authorization via a temporary security credential is preferred, but not mandatory. The latest version of Chrome that supports PNaCl on Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu may be used; no backwards compatibility needs to be provided. A working demonstration is required. No consideration needs to be paid to the user interface aspects; if the use case can be done, then a separate project will be negotiated to produce a production version.
