The task is to write a C program to process a series of images of a moving integrated circuit wafer as quickly as possible, to identify when the wafer is in the correct position. See the attached images. The wafer is mounted on a rotating spindle. The wafer has a flat edge that is used to locate the text just below the flat edge. The wafer is in the correct position when the flat edge is horizontal and the text can be read. The software to process the text already exists (although it is not ideal, so we are open to a proposal to include an OCR capability in this program). The program you create should be in the form of an ANSI C subroutine (for integration into a LabWindows/CVI project; LW does not support C++) that returns a value indicating the position of the flat edge. For example, the value might be +/- the number of degrees away from horizontal (which would be 0 degrees).
