My wife and I started a business in 2012 to buy and export overstock products (electronics) to my father in South America. I did some research online and found out that international "sales" (I don not consider these sales since I am shipping these to my dad) are tax free. However, since this is a business where I do have some small monthly expenses (such as a storage place, boxes, pallets, etc) I usually mark up the costs 5 - 10% so I that I can recover my expenses. Because I have never considered this as a serious "business" I have only filed on a yearly basis the "Texas Sales and Use Tax Return" form stating how much I have exported from the U.S. At some point (about two years ago), I considered selling some of the products here in the U.S. for which my dad had too much stock and didn't need more.
