Below is a summary of the incident that happened where I work and live in Albany, N.Y.I took the sublease of two months (starting July 1st) from a guy named XXXX, who was staying there for 10 months and left the remaining of a year's lease as a two-month sublease with us. He moved to Philadelphia because of job changes and left furniture, utensils and dresses in both bedroom closets, as well as more than 12 dozen pairs of shoes in the living room closet. He said that he was going to come and take away these items in two weeks, but he did not come back for the items as promised. I have paid two months of rent, which totaled $1,920 ($960 per month), even though in the lease agreement, it stated the rent was only $934 per month. The leasing office advised me to pay him rent directly. I asked him for clarification as to the difference in amounts and he said that he received a 5 percent discount when he paid his rent for the whole year in advance.
