I have a problem that you can easily troubleshoot yourselves if you have 2 servers. I'm guessing a 1 hour job. I have 2 servers on a local network. Each has a tmpfs / ramdisk installed like this at startup: mount -t tmpfs -o size=4000M tmpfs /mnt/ramdisk I NFS mount ramdisk dir1 from server1 to the dir1 ramdisk on server2 so: Server1:/mnt/ramdisk/dir1 ----> Server2:/mnt/ramdsk/dir1 Server 1: /etc/exports /mnt/ramdisk/dir1 *(fsid=1,rw,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check,async) Note: (If I do not include an fsid it yells at me) Server 2: /etc/fstab xxx.xxx.x.x:/server1_dir1/ /dir1_server2 nfs async, noatime 0 0 If server 1 goes down before I can manually unmount it from server 2, I cannot "mount -a" on server2. First, it might say stale file handles. But no matter what method I choose, I can't really unmount it. Something is "stuck". My solution: I must re-edit /etc/exports fsid=X on server 1. For example: Previous: fsid=1 New: fsid = 2 exportfs -r ...
