We operate a root server in a German computer center (Hetzner online AG). The base-operating system is Debian 7. On top of this, we run Proxmox. The set-up is Proxmox KVM/Bridged with one/29s IPv4 sub-net. A simple IP Tables firewall protects the Proxmox host against access from the outside. A virtual pfSense firewall manages the traffic TO and FROM all virtual machines. The current configuration works for IPv4 as desired.
