We require a talented C programmer to implement a specification for a piece of file format conversion software to be deployed on Ubuntu Linux and Red Hat Linux machines. This software will form part of a DNA sequencing pipeline. The software will convert Sequence Alignment Mapping (SAM) files to our own proprietary Extended SAM (XSAM) files, and vice versa. Both file formats are uncomplicated text files but may be as large as several hundred gigabytes in size. As such, the applicant must be comfortable implementing efficient sorting algorithms for large amounts of data. Experience in programming for bioinformatics and with the SAM file format will strengthen an application, although this is by no means necessary. The ideal applicant will have a strong work ethic, and should be prepared to work closely with our team. At a minimum we would expect weekly progress reports. The ideal applicant would also show an interest in becoming familiar with the informatics side of the modern DNA seq...

Expert on next-generation sequencing analysis tutor needed for legally blind bioinformatics student I am looking for a dedicated person to teach me how to analyze next-generation sequencing data. Examples of the kinds of datasets I need to learn can be found at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/sra/sra.cgi?cmd=search_obj&m=&s=&term=yeast&go=Search . The tutoring would take place remotely via Team Viewer and Skype. Hence, as long as there is internet access, location doesn't matter. Knowledge and interest in research about yeast, aging, caloric restriction, microarray analysis, Excel, R, SAS, heat maps, databases as well as , sterol synthesis, regulation and transport is a big plus. . I would also appreciate some help in finishing up my microarray analyses. Examples for it can be found at ebi.ac.uk/arrayexpress/experiments/browse.html. I am especially interested in learning how to analyze time series data. Could you please contact me if you ? or anyone you know ? mig...

Training and tutoring in analyzing publically available microarray data needed. I am a legally blind bioinformatics student and I need to learn how to analyze the microarray data at the following links below:   [obscured]  /arrayexpress/experiments/search.html?query=s288c&organism=Saccharomyces+cerevisiae&array=&exptype[]=&exptype[]= and   [obscured]  /arrayexpress/experiments/browse.html?keywords=%22Saccharomyces+cerevisiae+S288c%22+&organism=Saccharomyces+cerevisiae&array=&exptype[]=&exptype[] I need to learn how to draw heat maps from such kinds of data. I am especially interested in finding out why caloric restriction (CR) in yeast reduces lifespan in atg15 and erg6 yeast knockout mutants but extends lifespan in the wild type. These 2 genes must therefore be involved in longevity pathways activated by caloric restriction. Erg6 and atg15 knockouts not only become dysfunctional in the knockout mutant, which would be the case ...
