We currently have a stock Centos 7 server and we want to install Elasticsearch on it, in a secure manner. This server will only be used for Elasticsearch (no Apache or anything). If you're not familiar with Elasticsearch don't worry, you don't have to actually configure it or anything, just to install it (documentation is easy to find). I'd like someone to do the following: - Install Elasticsearch - Restrict Elasticsearch and SSH access to a set of IPs - Secure the server (install iptables, fail2ban, and/or anything you think is necessary, as well as changing SSH's port). Thanks for applying! :)

I've installed openvpn and created the certificates but when i try to connect using my client on my personal pc, i get a connection failed error. I need you to check the setting and make sure everything runs smooth. Also need you to explain where i went wrong. I think the issue is coming from the iptables configuration. The server is running CentOS 5. If everything goes smooth i'd like to keep working with you with regards to any linux work in the future. Please don't submit unrealistic proposals..

This out of date document explains setting up parental controls on Ubuntu 14.10   [obscured]  /linux/web-content-filtering-made-easy/ I need to have a script or set of scripts I can run as 'root' to perform these tasks on a stock standard 14.10 Desktop installation of Ubuntu. Essentially I want to have a set of scripts that will set up Ubuntu 14.10 as follows: 1. Install Dan's Guardian, Privoxy, IPTables as well as Gnome-system-tools (to get advanced user settings back) 2. configure DG, Privoxy and IPTables 3. set up as services that will run on reboot It is very important that a specific user (configurable in the script(s)) is able to be set up to bypass the IPTables restrictions so that the computer can be used/updated by a system admin yet it is protecting accounts of the kids on the machine. I would also like to have the DG installation use a scheduled update from Shalla List using CRON if at all possible.

I need to use the WANem 3.0 CD I burned on a ASUS desktop PC as a router with two Ethernet NICS. The WANem router would be placed between a currently functioning Windows 2008 server hosting a custom UDP protocol server facing the Internet through a business class Linksys Router with a port forwarded from a static IP. I need instructions on setting the WANem Eth0 and Eth1 ports on the two lan segments, each with a hardware switch, as well as the Windows 2008 server ethernet adapter settings. The Windows server normally sits on the internal network with fixed IP of 192.168.2.40 and UDP port 2914 is open to the internet through the NATing Linksys router through port forwarding. The windows server also needs to be able to reach the Internet normally for web and other requests. I need to test mobile devices connecting in through cellular links and from another WiFi network on a separate external IP address to this server. The goal is to create delays, out of order and dropped packets ...

I am looking for a Linux admin who can do a small project in setting up my new Debian 7 server correctly. I already did the basic LAMP setup, but need additional things configured and I just don't have the time to learn it. 1. Enable logging for MYSQL - 2. Configure MYSQL for production performance 3. Increase memory limits and var input limits in PHP. Configure PHP for production performance. 4. Setup & test outgoing email to have correct authentications based on the domain being sent from. Do not need any local mail, so something like Sendmail should work fine, if configured correctly. - must test with a gmail account and ensure emails do not go to spam. - This server has never been used before. 5. Firewall - Setup iptables and any other necessary functions to secure server, ports 80, 443, 22 only. 6. Any other configurations necessary to high performance and security. For an experienced Linux admin, this is a 1-2 hour project. I would like to pay $100 flat rate for someone t...

Linux containers will be created using a slightly modified version of this program:   [obscured]  /arachsys/containers. The only modifications we have done are to remove things that we don't need, so what we have is a bit smaller than this program. Unfortunately whereas the program above works, it does not handle networking. This means that I've had to create a separate Shell script to handle the networking. The networking involves creating two ends of a virtual ethernet device. One end is pushed into the container's namespace and becomes the interface that all traffic is routed through (this part seems to work fine). The other end stays in the VM and some iptables rules are created to forward incoming traffic on most ports into this, and to allow the container to communicate with the Internet through it (these parts don't seem to work properly). So I need someone to look at what I've got and think about whether iptables rules are the best way to handle this (I think it can also...

We operate a root server in a German computer center (Hetzner online AG). The base-operating system is Debian 7. On top of this, we run Proxmox. The set-up is Proxmox KVM/Bridged with one/29s IPv4 sub-net. A simple IP Tables firewall protects the Proxmox host against access from the outside. A virtual pfSense firewall manages the traffic TO and FROM all virtual machines. The current configuration works for IPv4 as desired. What we now whant to add is IPv6 support for the pfSense firewall as well as the irtual machines. If you get selected, you will at first get all relevant information about the concrete set-up (ip-adresses, subnet IPv4, subnet IPv6, ip-tables firewall, ..) After that, i will request a few minutes of your time, at best on the phone (skype etc.) to talk about an ideal IPv6 set-up. We decide together what will be the best approach and you will then deliver concrete configurations steps etc. which will solve the problem. If necessary, you will assist in case of prob...

Need an expert in linux server (CentOS), that can assist for 30 minutes via skype for an urgent project we need problem solving on. I need this link   [obscured]  :443/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml to NOT RESPOND AT ALL on the server. Either block the folder or the specific link completely. Microsoft autodiscover seems to have a problem with getting any response from the server. I do not understand why they would have this problem, but they are blaming the server unless it will not respond at all. an example of the behavior I want is:   [obscured]  :443/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml ---------------------------------------------------- this might solve the problem, is there any way to do the following thing for secure requests (which are encrypted)? iptables -A INPUT -m string --algo bm --string "Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml" -j DROP

Thank you for reviewing this project proposal. I am fairly tech savvy, but when it comes to network engineering, I know just about enough to be dangerous. I have Verizon FIOS and their Actiontec router is my network's primary wireless router/gateway. I have several other wireless access points connected to this router (connected via Ethernet) and are working fine. They are all in the same subnet (192.168.1.x) and serve the same SSID. Wireless devices seamlessly connect to the strongest wireless access point. I am attempting to set up an additional wireless access point with a VPN client to be permanently connected to a third-party VPN server. This access point will broadcast a different SSID and any clients that connect to this router will have their traffic routed over the VPN connection. Alas, I'm stuck. After trying several different dd-wrt builds and a lot of debugging, I was finally able to get the OpenVPN client to connect to the third-party VPN server and can confirm the V...

I have an application written in node.js (NOMP on Github) running on a ubuntu 14 headless server and I need an IP tables guru to write an application for me to do port forwarding. The NOMP application listens on certain ports for activity from mining computers and I want to be able to 'on the fly' issue a command from another server via http or some other method to be able to have IP tables forward all activity from a 'port' I specify in the command to another port I specify in the command (that nomp is already listening on). The app should keep a log file of all commands received and when performing the port forwarding no other ports on the server should be affected ( we can;t have any breaks in connectivity) The application could receive dozens of requests every minute for different ports to be forwarded and should be versatile, recoverable and should respond to the request with a success or fail. If you can do this job using technology other than IP Tables that's fine also but...

Our goal is to implement a Squid caching server in transparent mode to increase surfing speed for LAN side computer users. We need assistance configuring Squid and documenting the installation / configuration process. Systems to be used: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Squid 3.4 Eth0 = WAN / Static Eth1 = LAN / DHCP Project steps are: 1. You - Log in via SSH into server and install Squid. 2. You - Configure Squid (including dependencies, IPTables, etc) so that HTTP traffic is redirected to the cache and all non-HHTP traffic bypasses the cache. All configuration should be made via command line (ie, without use of Webmin or other web panels). 2. Us - Confirm cache is working properly from LAN side client devices. The Squid will be in "transparent" setup so no client configuration (ie, changes to browser settings) should be necessary. 3. You - Provide step-by-step documentation of work performed. Job is complete when we can utilize the documentation to replicate results on a s...

Dear Contractor, Thank you for reading our job posting! Currently we run a VPS on GoDaddy and need OpenMRS installed on the server without removing any software or systems already present on the server. OpenMRS requires Apache Tomcat and modifications to iptables, that the site developer couldn't get to go through. We need this software to run on the default HTTPD port 80 and to not interfere or disable any other software on the server (Cpanel, phpMyAdmin, MySQL, etc.). The software can be found at openmrs.org IMPORTANT: We need all installation steps to be carefully documented so our developer can replicate the process in the future. We look forward to hear from you! Warm regards, The MedBILL team

Hello I have a project to configure a debian linux running machine with 2 NICs to run as an always on,disconnect proof VPN over SSH. eth0 is configured as WAN DHCP Client eth1 is configured as LAN providing DHCP. The IPtables are set and currently all clients which connect to eth1 are natted out with eth0 interface ip address. I have experimented with sshuttle, and the terminal seems to work ok as its routed inside the vpn,but the LAN traffic is not routed inside the tunnel. So i require: A script or any cron job to keep the ssh vpn client always on,and to route the LAN Segment always and ONLY through the tunnel. In case the vpn drops the LAN should not have internet at all,in order to prevent IP leakage. Please inform me if this is possible. And how much time will it take. Thanks John
