I want to do an indicator that take news event from a site such as ( [obscured] /calendar.php) and plot them on a chart. (for backtest, eventually live in the future) Browsing the web I could see there is some available open source codes that download the website into a .txt file. Using Tradestation ( [obscured] /trading-technology/tradestation-platform/analyze/strategy-back-testing-and-optimization) or Multicharts and a broker's data ( [obscured] /backtesting/): - Create daily share price database for approx. 300 separate securities over a period 2009 to present (we have the list of names) - Track and chart returns on these names for specific date ranges over the period against their relevant indices, for example Sears Holdings vs. S&P 500 from 13 Apr 2010 to 12 Apr 2013 - Review daily Average Trading Range of each security at time of announcement (9 trading days prior to announcement) - Track investment outcome for each security based on following a trailing stop loss rule (adjusted for dividends, splits, and equivalent corporate events) (see attached spreadsheet example for initial outputs) - Ability to sensitize results based on different stop loss rule parameters (optimization) At this point we only need daily (closing pric...
