In fifth grade, I dreamed of writing stories that would help and inspire readers, and I have been pursuing that goal ever since.
Helping children find their creative sides is a passion of mine. A majority of my career has been spent in early childhood education, and I've worked as a teacher, counselor and nanny. I have found that kids become more engaged in reading and the arts when the adult accompanying them is also having a good time. Because of this, my writing for children strives to entertain not only the child, but also the adult.
I have written lesson plans in myriad of subjects, from Creative Writing to Earth Sciences, and have created endless craft projects for a range of ages. I know what can make a child smile, not only because I've dance to and sung every children's song imaginable, but also because I have a young daughter of my own.
In addition to my experience with kids, I have written freelance feature articles for the Chicago-based Daily Herald. Many of my stories have focused on my personal favorite subjects, education and the arts. When covering these assignments, I aim to guide the reader through with a fresh lead, interesting word choice and stimulating perspectives from the people involved in the event.
I am currently working on my first children's book and would love to bring my fun and flair into your project too!
