“The most unthankful client I have seen till date and the most unjust rating I have ever received (so very evident from the fact that he had nothing to say in his feedback to support it). He had no complaints, no unfulfilled requests, nothing. And still he found pleasure in placing a black spot on my shining profile that has rarely received anything below 4.7, and has generally won 5/5 in most of the jobs. Did he do it just for fun; I don't know.
Here's the actual story. The job was to develop an Outlook add-in that connects with WorkflowMax service via their API and manages user's account from within Outlook. We divided the whole job into 5 milestones and on his request I allowed him to fund only the first one and started working (my biggest mistake). I sent him the first version and he checked and released funds. The same happened for the second milestone. During this time we identified some additional work too which I completed and he released funds for it. During all this time, we were in contact with WorkflowMax guys as well who provided us with dummy account on their server to do our development.
After the completion of second milestone, I asked him to fund the 3rd one so that work could be started on it. He agreed and then disappeared on me. For whole TWO MONTHS I waited on him to get back but he remained silent and never responded to my PMB messages. Frustrated with all of that, I finally sent him a message offering him that I could remove the remaining milestones from the job if he'd like to close the job immediately, so that I could get rid of dragging the project along and would give him a chance to provide feedback about the experience he had had with me (my bad!). And at once he appeared and quickly agreed to my proposal. He also confessed that he was currently busy with another project and didn't have time to pursue this one anymore. I removed all remaining milestones. Terms were agreed again and I marked the job as complete, waiting for him to leave some good feedback. He disappeared again for 2 weeks. Finally I sent him a message yesterday, asking if he could please spare a few minutes and leave feedback, and this is what I got.
Man, if I only had made him escrow all of the milestones in the start, he couldn't have run away and I won't have to see all this. I'll make sure I do that for the future projects.
Unthankful is the word for him.”
Freelancer Feedback Comments for Client:
“If you''re working with this client, ensure that all milestones are escrowed BEFORE doing any work. Or he could run away in the middle of the project. At least that''s what he did in my case. Also mind that he could provide unrealistic feedback to leave a black spot on your profile, no matter how excellent everything has gone during the project. Other than this, he''s generally easy to work with and can provide valuable feedback, though somewhat less responsive.”
