Allan Ikesaka

Experienced Japanese to English translator
   Canada
  |   North York, Ontario

Overview

Hi there! Until late 2011, I'd been working in Tokyo and Chiba as an English conversation teacher for 17 years. I initially got into J-to-E translation as a favour for my friend, translating his financial reports for his foreign clients. Service Description

Let me be upfront about this. I am an experienced translator but I've never had formal training in translation. If you need my help and you are in Toronto, I would be very happy to meet you in person to discuss about the assignment. If not, we can communicate via e-mail, Facebook or Skype. My previous clients have sent me documents to translate for which I've taken a week or a month to complete, depending on the size of the assignment. I have translated financial reports within a period of several hours to a few days. Full websites have taken me 2 weeks to a month. I will often consult with the client during the assignment to make sure that we are both on the right track in terms of the translation, especially if it is a large request.

Small or large assignments are welcome. Even if you need help with just one paragraph or a few sentences, I would be happy to help.

I have annually translated several financial statements for a former student who is a tax accountant since 2008 for his international clients. In addition, I translated his website, as well as sites for Hokkaido tourism on behalf of a Japanese travel agency and a consulting company by the name of Asian Frontier. I have even translated a rental contract for a Canadian friend who has a business in Tokyo.

I also have proofreading experience. I was asked by my former colleague, currently a professional translator, to check her work for subtitling for the TV program, "White Collar" (2 episodes). And I have...
