I completed my master's in mass communication in May '09 and my bachelor's in public relations, both from Oklahoma State University. I am excited and willing to work with clients to meet their writing, designing or public relations needs. I am accustomed to working under pressure and meeting deadlines and will produce quality work in a timely manner.
I have nearly 10 years of writing experience and have written everything from news stories, features, profiles and press releases to copy for postcards and brochures. I also have editing experience and am proficient in AP style.
I currently work for a small, local nonprofit and many of the press releases I've written have been published in several of the local papers such as The Oklahoman. This is one of the two large newspapers in the state of Oklahoma. Through these press releases we have recruited volunteers and enhanced our image in the community.
I also have design experience. I design, layout and write for an 8-page quarterly newsletter for my job. The newsletter has a circulation of approximately 2,400. Each time we send it we include return envelopes for donations. Last year the newsletter not only paid for itself, but also made $3,000 after I redesigned it and began including news articles and information. I have also designed logos and brochures for college organizations such as a student PR firm and small businesses including a catering business and an independent cake-decorating business.
