After receiving, with honors, a B.A in Psychology and a law degree from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, I spent three years writing pre-hearing memoranda and editing judicial opinions for Judge Gerry Alexander of the Washington State Court of Appeals. I then became a Writing Instructor at the University of Puget Sound School of Law, where I taught grammar and written skills and how to prepare well-organized, compelling legal memos or briefs and where I edited student work.
I segued into more creative writing endeavors in the early nineties and began selling fiction and nonfiction. My short stories, essays, and poetry have appeared in various magazines. For five years, I wrote a weekly column, The Up Beat
