Worked as sub-editor at Chandigarh and a staff correspondent at Bathinda with 4+ years’ of experience covering defence, education, politics (Lok Sabha elections in Punjab in 2009), art and culture, district administration, health and rural development sectors for a national daily newspaper The Tribune after a short stint with The Indian Express in Pune.

Handled special features initiated by the space marketing section of the newspaper. Wrote features on lifestyle, education, art and culture and important festivals in Pune. Also used to assign stories to freelancers and arranged for photographs to be used on the pages.

I moved to this newspaper with a desire to excel professionally and worked at the desk for national and local editions regularly, an initiative through which I gained tremendous experience.

I Covered almost all beats in Bathinda with Defence, education, art and culture, women welfare and social welfare being the key ones. During my stay there, I was the first one to do stories on presence of uranium in Punjab’s Malwa region, which were later picked up by the print, broadcast media and the international media. Interviewed for the same by radio stations in Canada, as it is dominated by the Sikh population.
