I studied Graphic Design at Design Centre Enmore, Australia, and specialise in website design. My goal is to produce websites that are beautiful, standards compliant, accessible and navigable. Aside from websites, I have experience in photography, branding and print layouts.
My decision to work freelance was taken partly due to the freedom it entails, as such I reserve the right to decline work that I do not feel is ethically sound. This includes a strict policy of not designing for weapons manufacturers, banks, mining companies or other major polluters
One of my favourite hobbies is working with people and groups interested in effecting change, particularly regarding enviromental and social justice issues. I will happily do free work for such causes.
Those who have an interest in such things will be pleased to know that I work entirely using open source programs, primarily GIMP for image manipulation, Inkscape for vector graphics, Bluefish for coding HTML and CSS, Firefox/Firebug for preliminary testing, Scribus for desktop publishing and F-Spot for photo management. It is my belief that Linux has come of age for designers, and although there are some sacrifices involved in abandoning Adobe's wonderful suite of programs, the benefits of the free open source software movement far outweigh the loss of a few features.
