Brett Alan began his editing/writing career in 1990 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Texas - Austin. As a copy editor for a company that published television listings and guides, Brett's responsibilities also included developing and teaching a course in newspaper writing style for 45 employees. Subsequent promotions led to Department Supervisor, then Training Manager and finally Assistant Managing Editor.
Following a corporate merger, he relocated to upstate New York with the newly formed company as Deputy Features Editor, where he was responsible for assigning and editing stories to in-house and freelance writers, as well as writing feature stories.
Upon returning to Texas, Brett took a job with a monthly magazine (circulation 25,000 plus) as a graphic designer/writer, which combined his writing and editing skills with his proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress and other programs. Ready for a change, Brett began freelancing and contracting as a writer and graphic designer in 1999; most notably, he spent two years working for an IBM Reseller, where he developed advertising campaigns, logos and other marketing and corporate collateral. Companies can trust Brett Alan to deliver quality, accurate and on-time service.
