While I am new to freelancing, I am no stranger to communications work. I most recently served as the communications director for a nonprofit organization, where I greatly increased the visibility of the organization. While there, I helped gain new members and land new projects. My eight years of experience in areas such as presentation design and delivery, speech writing, radio broadcasting, news writing, feature writing, social media, creative writing and more combine for a dynamic package that I put to work every day. AP Style is my second language, and I have been known to read the dictionary to my college roommates in the evenings when we needed a break.
My writing style has been described as conversational and pleasant to read. For one story about the farm ("I'll miss my two homes: farm, Purdue," which can be found on clippings.me/elisebrown), I received dozens of emails in response. Purdue alumni told me about their experiences at the university and on the farm, as well as how they felt when reading my story. One gentleman told me that he had tears running down his cheeks by the time he reached the end of the piece.
With this emotion also comes the need to present the audience with facts and lead them to act. With my experience as a Master of Science student writing a thesis, I have the skills needed to research any topic and present a convincing argument.
