I am an accomplished senior Technical Writer with over 12 years experience with various industries. I specialize in writing for Technology companies but have done Marketing writing and some Travel writing as well. I also graduated from BCIT in Computer Systems Technology so have a programming background as well as a writing background (from SFU). I have done a lot of print writing but am now focusing on more of the Online Help, Media and Training aspects of my profession and spent a lot of time creating videos or Webinars for customers and support staff at my current position. I have worked with and managed teams to complete large projects so am very adept at gathering data from subject matter experts, system specifications, and developer notes to turn into various documentation types. An advantage with my skills is that I am very knowledgeable in a variety of documentation areas as well as having the technical background to easily understand complex material.

Worked as the sole Technical Writer on various projects including an ongoing Installation Guide and Implementation Guide that was used by on-site installers for the hardware and network setup, and the software that was customized for each Clinic. Release Notes were created for each version of our software and sent to customers as well as released internally to the company.
Updated Marketing materials such as Datasheets and Product Bulletins, working closely with the VP of Marketing for each product release and updated logos or created graphics for the documentation and the Website.
The writing was geared towards medical professionals and is very technical medical material. As the only Technical Writer I worked with the Development team very closely to gather content for all the documentation in the company.

Worked with a small team of writers at our local office to produce documentation for aircraft maintenance software. We focused primarily on putting out Online Help, along with Word documents for User Guides, Release Notes and internal documentation.
Responsible for Online Help, Installation Guides, User Guides, and What’s New documents for three major projects dealing with both commercial and military aviation.
We interacted with a large group that was both local and remote at both Aeroinfo and Boeing to gather information for our assigned projects.
Documentation tools used include Adobe RoboHelp, Acrobat, Snag-It, Paint Shop Pro, FrameMaker, Visio and Microsoft Office, including SharePoint.

Worked with a large team (approximately 34), both local and remote, to produce both print and Online Help documentation, along with Release and Hotfix guides. I was responsible for 4 full-time product technical guides, as well as a Release Guide for each update or major release of the software.
Each project included an Installation guide, Users Guide and Reference Guide and had a team of Developers I had to interact with to gather content for each release.
Created a new Objects Plus Programmer’s guide for Developers both internally and at hospitals.

Worked with TLV Systems multiple times since November 2003, creating a new Installation and User product manual for three products and then updating these manuals as the products expanded or were updated. I also helped with translating these manuals into French using a certified translator.

Over the six years I was promoted from a junior position (Technical Writer I) to a project decision-maker (Technical Writer III).
Created new Installation guides, User Guides, Programming Guides and Reference Guides for three new products as well as maintaining existing documentation for legacy hardware products.
Estimated project costs and scheduled project lengths and resources, gathered data and interviewed subject matter experts.
Performed graphic design – network diagrams, flowcharts, simple illustrations. Edited, wrote, and processed manuals in preparation for printing.
