For me, translation is a wonderful blend of art and science, relying as much on the heart as it does on the mind. A good translator knows when to be literal and when to adapt the content to fit the language and culture of the target audience. My goal is always to provide a new text that conveys the same ideas as the original, but which can also stand alongside it as an independent document of the same quality or better.

My educational background is in music, having attended both the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes College of Music in New York City during the eighties. Since that time, my life has gone in many different and unexpected directions, but one thing that has remained constant is my passion for language.
Being a creative person, who would rather make things happen than sit around waiting, I have been a small business owner three times over. My first venture, at age 25, was an event planning service in New York. When I moved to California in 1990, the limitations of the job market prompted me to start my own gardening and housecleaning service. Once employment opportunities improved, I embarked on a seventeen-year career in the QSR industry, working my way up in the space of four years from delivery driver to assistant manager to general manager and in 1995, I became a franchise owner/operator in Grand Terrace, Ca.
After achieving six years of double-digit positive sales, in 2001 I sold my store for almost three times its purchase price to the franchisee that owned many of the neighboring units and accepted a post as Marketing Director for his company, which would eventually grow to twenty-one stores. The next seven years were filled with opportunities to learn new skills while refining my existing ones.
