“Unfortunately, what I find 'appalling' on receiving this notification is that this client had the need to write this emotive, very misleading and damaging feedback, after my (what were now obviously fruitless) genuine and repeated efforts over many weeks to resolve his issues with the project. It doesn't accurately reflect the project, the professional quality of my work, my customer service efforts or the outcome.
I seldom respond to constructive criticism but this is the one and only such low-ranked and almost spiteful review I've received on Elance in 13 years of membership, so I am professionally responding in this instance. As he wrote in one email 'I'm new to this game' and 'I'm a dentist, I pull teeth'. But as a self-confessed beginner at commissioning copywriting and despite my full explanations of how drafts progressed from first through 1-2 edits to final, he has now quickly become an expert and publicly published this, rather than take advantage of my offer to complete any last edits free of charge.
The brief was carefully addressed, multiple pages and sections were written and submitted, rather than 'nothing delivered'. Having re-read all text carefully, I courteously disagree with these negative comments; while the client has not been able to articulate or explain what edits, or additional 'Australian-ising' adjustments they wanted. I'm an excellent copywriter but can't mind-read. I'm genuinely bewildered as to how much more energy I could have put into resolving matters and am very disappointed at the outcome.”
