One of the top 0.5% of Elance writers. MBA with undergraduate degree in international relations and English minor. Seventeen years of management experience; military background; former small-company CFO and medium-company operations director, and current diversified company controller. Experience in accounting, finance, HR, insurance, purchasing, education/training, retail, franchising (both franchisor and franchisee sides), and, to a lesser degree, marketing.
On the accounting side, I have almost 10 years of very broad private accounting experience. Setting up books and advising small business owners are specialties.
As a writer, I have created or extensively updated operations manuals and HR policy manuals and write creatively for pleasure. I can produce writing that is accurate and detailed (characteristics essential in both policy and operations documents) yet easy to read and understandable. Consistent quality and attention to detail are the hallmarks of my work.
I have built my accounting and finance skills in growing companies. I specialize in helping small businesses make the transition necessary to continue growth as a larger enterprise, and in advising entrepreneurs in a variety of areas. With broad experience beyond accounting--including operations, HR, and insurance--I bring a "big picture" view of business operations to the practice of accounting.
In addition, for years my employers have benefited from my writing skills in a variety of arenas, from operations and policy manuals to marketing materials. Now your organization can as well.
I am one of those people who cringes at the sight of a writing error in a business brochure or a nationally-published advertisement. Whether it is the erroneous use of a homophone, the substitution of "it's" for "its," or any of a long (and, sadly, growing) list of common mistakes, such errors detract from your organization's image and undermine your message.
When it comes to technical or policy documents, the writing must be factually accurate, cover all contingencies, and--arguably most importantly--be readable. While no one (well, at least almost no one) reads such material for pleasure, when it does become necessary to refer to the document, reading it and extracting the necessary information shouldn't be a painful slog through opaque language and awkward sentence construction.
As an individual writer, I will solicit only those jobs that I feel confident I can execute competently and in a reasonable timeframe. That means you can be assured that your project will enjoy extensive attention and be completed to the highest standards--and to your satisfaction.
