I have extensive experience in copy editing -- mostly for newspapers, but for books, documents, Web pages, and legislative bills as well. I type about 80 words a minute and am extremely proficient in Microsoft Word (and other word processors); I am proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Powerpoint also. My team, which consists right now of myself, is super-proficient in typing, transcription, editing and copy-editing, and writing. We are proficient in applications including Microsoft Office (all versions), Adobe InDesign and -- to a lesser-but-improving degree -- Photoshop and Illustrator as well. We find no job at a computer monotonous, ever, and take great pleasure just in typing, formatting, data entry, research, and any aspect of document creation and processing. We just love computers and would live online if that were possible. We are detail-oriented perfectionists who take pride in the quality of our work above all else. Time is very important; excellence even more so.
I have performed a variety of newspaper jobs over the years -- my first job was as a proofreader at the town's local newspaper. (I took their test and got the high score.) I took a test for the Utah State Legislature too, received the highest score they had yet recorded for this test, and was hired as a document specialist and proofreader. I've written, researched, interviewed, photographed and edited for various newspapers and Web sites, and I've won several creative writing awards.
