My first reporter/photographer job was at The Modern News in Harrisburg, Arkansas. During my employment with the "News", I won an Honorable Mention award by the Arkansas Press Association about the Poinsett County 911 system. There were many categories to enter... I chose to only enter in the News Writing category.

I am a former journalist who now freelances so I can be a stay at home mom to my 17-year-old and 5-year-old boys. While in college and before I decided to remarry, I had aspired to be a New York Times reporter; that, however, has been put on hold indefinitely.
Despite that, I have aspired to keep up with my journalism standards and continue to write for lots of different clients on a variety of subjects. I mainly deal in research and rewritten articles. However, I have also rewritten several ebooks, created many short stories and have edited a large novel for publication for a client locally (you can see his feedback via my Elance portfolio)
I have my own novel in the works and would love to someday get back to it so I can finish it up and publish it. I love to write and find myself up in the wee hours of the morning trying to get the work done. I work seven days a week but do take breaks at some point. I try not to work when I am sick, which is very rare but occasionally does occur.
I am a stickler for mistakes and try not to let any slip by me. While it's not always possible to be 100 percent correct, I do strive for it. I expect perfection from myself, even if the clients do not.
