EMMA WALTON HAMILTON is a best-selling children's book author, editor, educator and theatre arts professional. She has co-authored and published 16 books for children and young adults, four of which have been on the NY Times Bestseller list (including #1) , and has written numerous articles, editorials and essays for newspapers, magazines and the internet. Since 2001, she has been Editorial Director of the Julie Andrews Collection imprint at Harper Collins Publishers.
One of the founders of Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, NY, Emma served as the Theatre's co-Artistic Director for 13 years before focusing her energies on youth programming, education and writing. Until 2008, she was Bay Street's Director of Education and Programming for Young Audiences, heading up Bay Street's comprehensive educational outreach as well as Kidstreet, the acclaimed program for young audiences. She continues to serve as Education Consultant to the theatre.
Emma also works as a freelance writer, editor, educator, and arts consultant. Her book, RAISING BOOKWORMS: Getting Kids Reading for Pleasure and Empowerment will be published this fall.
