Francesca Romana Caputo was born in Rome, where she also completed her studies at the Valle Giulia School of Architecture - La Sapienza. Here she pursued her degree in Architecture with a thesis titled Abitare oggi. Evoluzione degli spazi abitativi nella casa informatizzata on principles and applications of the domotics. This thesis was under the supervision of Prof. Roberto Palumbo, formerly dean of Valle Giulia, and currently chancellor of A.DE.S.SO. (Ateneo Federato dello Spazio e della Società).
While studying at Valle Giulia, she had her first working experience, collaborating on the draft of a new issue of the Italian Architecture Handbook, Nozioni Generali di Progettazione , Il Nuovissimo Manuale dell'Architetto , Mancosu Editore, and with Alieri Architetti Associati on the planning of a five building residential complex. The building is located in a new urban expansion area in the city of Rome.
After receiving her degree, she collaborated for five years with Adam D. Tihany, who is widely regarded today as the preeminent hospitality designer in the world. She worked at both his New York City office, and at the Rome branch office, assisting Andréa Riecken. Her portfolio of work includes, among the other projects developed with Tihany Design, the Radisson Frankfurt Hotel, the Celebrity Cruises Solstice cruise ship and, more recently, the Mandarin Oriental Genève.
